CANET DE MAR
Canet de Mar is a municipality located in the Maresme region, in the province of Barcelona, born in the 11th century as a small town and already recognized as an outstanding cultural, artistic and social nucleus, where the dominant industry is tourism, textiles, floriculture and strawberry cultivation. Canet de Mar hosts the University School of technical engineering in knitted fabrics. The streams are the emblem of the town with sudden and quite violent floods. All this marks the character of this town.
Canet is a little same-old-time-character village with the most incredible quantity of art split-on-the-street, every door there is a magnificent building from the most reputated modernism arquitects, as Domènech i Muntaner with his Palau de la Música Catalana , created in his house-studio-museum here that has left wonderful buidings in the village, til others like Puig I Cadafalch or Eduard Ferrés i Puig.
We will visit : Domènech I Muntaner Home-Museum, the most relevant Modernist houses from the village and Fisherme’n village born with the possibility to visit one of the 8 catalan traditional Stained-Glass studios where the craftman will introduce us in this fascinating world, to finish tasting local specialities.
