Cadaqués beauty is stil preserved by the difficulty of arriving here that has its origin in Middle Ages time. Cadaqués is a reserved, shy, intimate place hid behind the mountains appearing after the 15 kilometers zigzagging 30-curves road prelude to a day to let yourself be carried from morning to dusk.
The old town is really nice, with lilac bougainvilleas hanging on the stone facade everywhere in the narrow and steep alleys; little squares, chairs in the portals and doors painted in bright colours. The impressing baroque Santa Maria parish Church offers a splendid view of the bay of Es Cucurucuc in front. On the south, the impresive views from the 7 Km walk direction Cala Nans lighthouse, are a must too.
Famous people like Kirk Douglas, Yul Brynner or Jean Luis Trintignant have sat at whatever little table bar of the village in front of the sea. People come here to read a newspaper, do nothing, chat with the neighbourg, take some Tapa, admire the view or enter in oneself thoughts. In Portlligat, a fishermen’s refuge and wonderful tiny 3-fishing pinturesque boats harbour, Dali’s home-museum remains the same as the artist left when his beloved Gala died. Here you can breathe total calm, it’s a surreal experience in its purest form. Between here and the Natural Park of Cap de Creus we find a repeated with always different forms landscape of vineyards, old olive trees and rocks with thousand different shapes before arriving to the impossing Pyrinees.
Renowed Cadaqués and area places are : Salvador Dalí Home-Museum, Santa Maria Church, Platja Gran, Cala Nans Lighthouse, Salvador Dali’s sculpture, Creus Cape and Creus Cape Tudela area, Saint Baldirio little Church, Federico Garcia Lorca’s sculpture, cape Morfeu route towards Roses, Roses Ciutadella and Saint Pere de Roses Monastery.
We will visit : Wine tasting and Catalan Breakfast in a traditional cellar & winery Masia of the XIII Century at the top of the mountain, visiting Dali’s Home (from the exterior for the atmosphere and wonderful photographic little 20 minutes tour until Cadaqués town again), free lunch time to admire the views from the Church and eat and after this possibility to do the excursion to Cap the Creus with a little train in the afternoon or stroll freely the village.
